The final of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) is scheduled to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The decision was taken during a series of meetings by the BCCI on Monday (May 19), according to a report in Cricbuzz. The IPL final was originally scheduled to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, as Kolkata Knight Riders had won the last edition of the tournament.

However, the BCCI was forced to change the schedule as well as the venues due to the cross-border tension between India and Pakistan. The tournament was suspended on May 9 for a week before it was resumed on May 17. While the final was originally scheduled to be played on May 25, it will now be played on June 3.

The BCCI also confirmed that the remaining games would be played at six venues: Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad.

However, the board has now reportedly decided to add Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, as a venue too. Cricbuzz has reported that the first two matches of the playoffs could be played at the Punjab Kings' home venue. The second qualifier is likely to be played in Ahmedabad. The BCCI is expected to release the full schedule for the playoffs and the IPL final soon.

Meanwhile, three teams have already booked their spots in the playoffs. Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings have qualified for the playoffs. On the other hand, the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals are fighting for the last remaining playoffs spot.

Ahmedabad to host IPL final for the third time:

This will be the third time that the IPL final will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While the city did not have any team in the IPL before 2022, it did host games before that as well. The Narendra Modi Stadium hosted an IPL match for the first time in 2010.

The venue hosted two more games that season. In 2014 and 2015, the venue hosted four games in each season. It did not host any IPL game for the next five seasons before hosting 5 games in IPL 2021.

In IPL 2022, when Gujarat Titans made their debut, the Narendra Modi Stadium hosted only two games because of the COVID-19 restrictions. The two matches were the second qualifier and the final. With the Gujarat Titans winning the final, the 2023 IPL final was also hosted in Ahmedabad.
