IPL 2025: KKR unveil new jersey with golden 'Defending Champions' badge and 3 stars

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have revealed their new jersey for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Their are certain new changes to this jersey from the previous IPL season.
KKR's star cricketers Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Vaibhav Arora, Anukul Roy, Manish Pandey, Mayank Markande, and Luvnith Sisodia could be seen sporting the new kit during the jersey launch video shared on the franchise's social media account.

KKR unveils new jersey with Three Stars
The three stars in the jersey showcase their three title wins in IPL history. They won their first title in 2012 and then repeated the feat in 2014 as well. Both these title wins came under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir.
Their latest title win came in 2024 when they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final of the season. Interestingly, Gautam Gambhir was again involved in the team but as a mentor this time.
KKR announced the official jersey launch video where the fans of the team can be seen saying the 'Number 3' repeatedly which was related to the three titles won by the franchise so far.
Meanwhile, they will be aiming to live up to the expectations and continue their momentum from the last season.

Notably, KKR have also registered three stars around the Gemini constellation, each symbolizing their title victories in 2012 (Korbo), 2014 (Lorbo), and 2024 (Jeetbo).
"The stars have been registered by the date that we won each of the three titles - 27th May 2012, 1st June 2014 and 26th May 2024," said Binda Dey, Chief Marketing Officer of KKR in a release.
What does the Golden Badge indicate?
The jersey also has a special golden IPL badge on the arm apart from having three stars in the jersey. The badge makes them different from others as they enter the tournament as defending champions.
The golden badge has been introduced by the IPL in order to recognize the defending champions. KKR won the title last year and will enter the upcoming edition as the defending champions.
KKR won the IPL 2024 season in a convincing fashion as they clinched the title under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. They topped the group stage and then took their game to another level in the playoffs and the final.
Captain yet to be announced
Kolkata Knight Riders is one of the two teams not to have announced its captain for the IPL 2025 season. Their captain of the last season Shreyas Iyer decided to go into the mega-auction last year and was eventually picked up by Punjab Kings.
Currently, Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, and Rovman Powell are some of the options but a single name is yet to finalise. They will be playing the IPL 2025 opening game against RCB at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on March 22 to mark the beginning of a new season.
