IPL 2025: Mass exit begins as franchises send players home amid India-Pakistan war

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has become a hot topic amid the tensions between India and Pakistan at the border. As per the reports in the Times of India, it is learned that the franchises are making plans to send players back home.
The tensions at the border between India and Pakistan forced the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to suspend the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. This comes after the game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala was called off mid-way.
BCCI immediately evacuated people from the Dharamsala stadium and also players amid tensions at the borders
The Pakistani forces launched an attack in the Jammu and Kashmir and Pathankot region, which was just around 80 km away from the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. This saw BCCI immediately evacuating people from the stadium, and also players from the stadium.
Following this BCCI took a harsh call to suspend the IPL. Now the franchises are planning travel plans to send all the players back home. Most teams are away from their home base, but the reports claimed that both Indian as well as overseas players will be heading back to their respective homes.
Every foreign player and member of the support staff will be headed back to their respective country - IPL official
The IPL official confirmed the development, saying that they will be helping with all the logistics and will ensure all the players and members of the support staff will be heading back to their respective countries. Speaking to the Times of India, he said:
"They will be heading back home. We will help with all the logistics, but every foreign player and member of the support staff will be headed back to their respective country," says an IPL official.
Depending on what is decided in the future, a call will be taken on them returning for the league - IPL official
One of the officials also said that a call related to the future of competition will be taken soon, but players will head back home. He said:
"Depending on what is decided in the future, a call will be taken on them returning for the league. But as of now, they will be headed back home."
"All players will be headed back home, including the overseas players," added another team official.
Both Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru were in Lucknow for today's fixture at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. However, the players will be heading back home.
As of now, MI will be heading back to Mumbai as they moved to Ahmedabad for the clash against the Punjab Kings. Royal Challengers Bengaluru players, however, are expected to disperse from Lucknow only. It remains to be seen when the remaining part of the league will be played.
