Lucknow Super Giants mentor Zaheer Khan has provided a massive update about the fitness of Mayank Yadav ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He said that they are working with the NCA staff to make sure the pacer becomes fit, as he is crucial for their team as well as Indian cricket.
Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mayank Yadav's career has been marred by a lot of injuries, and it hasn't allowed him to have a longer run in IPL as well as Indian cricket. The pacer in less number of games has made a massive impact and surely has X factor in him.
Mayank Yadav was one of the top retentions for the Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the IPL 2025
Mayank played a great role for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2024 in the few games that he played, but after that, he got injured. Following his recovery, he made his debut for the India National Cricket Team in the series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team.
Mayank had a great start to his international cricket as he picked four wickets at an economy rate of 6.92. However, after that, he was ruled out of the series against South Africa and, since then, has been out of action.
Mayank was one of the top retentions for the Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the IPL 2025. The premier fast bowler was retained for INR 11 crore and was the joint second-highest retention for LSG along with Ravi Bishnoi.

With IPL 2025 approaching, LSG mentor Zaheer Khan was asked about the fitness of Mayank Yadav. He said that they are having conversations related to the recovery and fitness of the pacer with the NCA. Speaking to the Times of India, he explained:
“We’ve had some interesting conversations on his roadmap to recovery and fitness with the NCA. We are working with them and hope for their support. He is not only important for LSG but also for Indian cricket."
A bowler of his calibre should play consistently for a long time - Zaheer Khan on Mayank Yadav
Zaheer Khan added that a bowler of Mayank Yadav's calibre should play for a longer period of time. He said that he is giving his best to make sure that pacer is 150% fit and they will be doing everything possible to get him in top fitness. He elaborated:
"A bowler of his calibre should play consistently for a long time. I’m putting in effort and energy to give him the best environment to play longer. We want him 150% fit, so we will do everything possible to get him in top fitness."
Lucknow Super Giants recently named Rishabh Pant as their captain for the IPL 2025. The keeper-batter became the costliest buy in the history of the league as he was acquired by the franchise for INR 27 crore.
