The 34-year-old India National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Mohammed Shami has revealed whether there have been any talks between him and Gujarat Titans (GT) regarding his retention ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction.

Mohammed Shami is one of the best pacers in world cricket and has been a member of the Gujarat Titans (GT) since the franchise joined the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022.

Mohammed Shami Is Leading Wicket-taker Among Fast Bowlers For Gujarat Titans

Shami has been a key member of the Gujarat Titans franchise and has played a vital role in its success in the years 2022 and 2023 before missing out on the 2024 season due to an injury.

The 34-year-old has played 33 matches for GT and has bagged 48 wickets at an average of 21.04, an economy of 8.01, and a strike rate of 15.75. He is the leading wicket-taker among pacers for the franchise, and overall, he is the second-highest wicket-taker behind Rashid Khan, who has picked 56 wickets in 45 matches.

Shami was stellar in the two seasons he played for Gujarat Titans and helped them win the IPL 2022 and took them to the final in IPL 2023, where they lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

There is still no communication from GT about retention - Mohammed Shami

Speaking to the reporters during an interaction, Mohammed Shami recently revealed that he is unsure of his future with Gujarat Titans as he has not yet received any communication about his retention.

"There is still no communication from GT about retention," Shami said during the interaction with reporters, according to RevSportz.

Also, Mohammed Shami spoke about his captaincy ambitions in the Indian Premier League. Speaking to Sports Today, he said that he would never decline the opportunity to become a captain as it's not a very tough job.

"If one gets the opportunity, I don't think many will deny that role. It's not a lot different, all you need to do is know you team, your teammates and that is gonna do you job," Shami said.

So I don't want any problem in this - Mohammed Shami speaks on his comeback

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami, who is currently out of action, was doing quite well after Achilles tendon surgery and had almost achieved full fitness before he suffered a swelling on his knee, which ruined his comeback plans.

However, Shami recently revealed that he is now pain-free and is aiming to play a few Ranji Trophy matches before traveling to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Speaking to Sports Tak, Shami said that his knee is doing fine and he is quite cautious in his approach at the moment.

"It is very good now. I stopped it for a week. Because I am also scared sometimes. That there is an operation leg, an operation point. That I don't react. Because of the dryness, my front foot loads more.

"So I don't want any problem in this. That's why we stepped back. We can see a little bit, but it's not that much. The person was less and the market was more. So I don't want more than this. We need confirmation, that's important," said Shami.
