The statement related to the future of MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to come out soon. As per the reports in Sports Tak, it is learned that the keeper-batter will be meeting Chennai Super Kings (CSK) officials to talk about his availability for the next season.

The reports claimed that Dhoni hasn't confirmed his availability as of yet for the IPL 2025. The keeper-batter reportedly was approached by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) officials for the same, but he informed CSK officials of his unavailability for discussions till the 28th of October.

MS Dhoni and CSK officials are expected to meet either on the 29th or 30th of October

It is learned that Dhoni and officials are expected to meet him either on the 29th or 30th of October. Only after the meeting, the Chennai Super Kings management will finalize retentions for the next edition of the league.

All the franchises have been given time till October 31 to submit their list of retained players to the IPL ahead of the mega auction. Therefore, by the 30th of October, there would be a lot of clarity about MS Dhoni playing in the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

MS Dhoni, if available, is likely to be retained in the uncapped category at INR 4 crore. According to his rule, a player can be considered uncapped if they have been retired from international cricket for five years. The keeper-batter played his last international game in 2019.

MS Dhoni has been training at the JSCA training center in Ranchi

Recently, some media reports claimed Dhoni is keen to play and is giving his best to be fit. He has been training at the JSCA training center in Ranchi and is currently completely fit, hence raising the chances of him playing in the IPL 2025.

It was also learned that Dhoni, who underwent knee surgery, might play as an Impact Player in the upcoming season. He is unlikely to keep wickets and will be playing as a batter only because of his age and injury issues. Therefore it is expected that Chennai might target a keeper in the auction.

MS Dhoni stepped down as captain of CSK

Dhoni is one of the best captains to have played in the IPL. He has joint most titles as a leader as under him CSK won five IPL titles under his captaincy. He stepped down from the captaincy before the IPL 2024. He passed on the baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad, who did a decent job as the captain of the team.

Dhoni scored 161 runs in 14 matches, with the highest score of 37 not out in the IPL 2024. Due to the injury issues, he came to bat down the order and played cameos. He smashed 13 sixes and 14 fours and would be hoping to add more to his tally going ahead.

The IPL 2025 auction is reportedly to take place in Riyadh on the 24th or 25th of next month. The event this year is likely to see some big names, and it is expected to be a blockbuster event.
