Paras Mhambrey has reportedly rejoined the support staff of the joint-most successful franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of the upcoming IPL 2025.

However, the official confirmation is yet to be made, but the former India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey is on the board with the MI as their new bowling coach. Mhambrey's return to MI is set to be a game-changer.

The five-time IPL champions already have legends like Lasith Malinga, Sri Lanka’s pace great, and TA Sekar, India’s pace hero from the 80s, and now the franchise will have an additional boost with the expertise of Paras Mhambrey.

Having been an integral part of the MI journey since the inception of the IPL in 2008, Paras Mhambrey’s comeback is significant. His credentials speak volumes, especially his success as India's bowling coach during their impressive campaigns in the 2023 ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup earlier this year.

Paras Mhambrey has played a key role in honing talents like Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami, who flourished under his mentorship with the Indian cricket team. His return to the Mumbai franchise promises to take their bowling unit to new heights in the upcoming IPL 2025.

Tilak Varma named India A captain for Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024

Meanwhile, MI star batter Tilak Varma has been appointed as the captain of the India A team for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024. Young guns like Abhishek Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh, and Anuj Rawat have also been included in the national squad for the tournament.

The middle-order batter Ayush Badoni, who made a mark in the Delhi Premier League T20, and Nehal Wadhera, a standout player from the Mumbai Indians (MI), are all set to play key roles in stabilizing India’s batting line-up at the upcoming Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024.

On the other hand, as the IPL 2025 mega auction looms on the horizon, the fate of Mumbai Indians (MI) icon Rohit Sharma with the franchise remains uncertain. With the BCCI allowing teams to retain up to six players, including the Right-To-Match (RTM) option, some difficult choices are expected in the coming months.

Could Mumbai Indians stop Rohit Sharma from leaving the franchise?

Speculation is rife about whether Rohit will be retained by the Mumbai Indians (MI) or if the Indian captain decided to under the hammer at the IPL 2024 mega auction. Last season saw Rohit being replaced as Mumbai Indians (MI) captain by Hardik Pandya, adding more mystery to his future with the Mumbai team.

Notably, all 10 franchises have the freedom to decide their combination of retained players and Right-To-Match (RTM) cards. Out of the six allowed retentions, or RTMs, teams can select up to five capped players, which includes both Indian and overseas players, while they can also retain up to two uncapped players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

As per media reports, the IPL 2025 auction is expected to take place in the third or fourth week of November 2024. Speculation around the venue suggests that similar to the 2024 auction, the mega auction is likely to be held in the UAE or the UK next month.
