Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be eyeing their maiden IPL title next season. In IPL 2024, the Bengaluru-based outfit had a rollercoaster ride.
While they started the competition in a disastrous fashion, they managed to turn things around in a spectacular fashion midway and eventually qualified for the playoffs.
They, however, once again failed to lay their hands on the trophy. For IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have signed up a number of quality players. At the same time, they also missed out on a number of players.
While they have a strong enough squad to do well next season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru could pay a big price for not signing a few other players. So, here we are taking a look at three such players.
IPL 2025: Players Royal Challengers Bengaluru will regret missing out on:
Kagiso Rabada:
Bowling especially fast-bowling has always been a matter of concern for the franchise. They needed a quality fast bowler to sort out the issue and they went for none other than South African pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru made the first bid for the right-arm pacer at INR 2 crore. They bid for Rabada till 10.50 crore before deciding to pull out of the race. In the end, Gujarat Titans signed up the Proteas star for INR 10.75 crore.
One of the best pacers in the world, Rabada played for Punjab Kings last season. In 11 games, he had picked up 11 wickets.
Meanwhile, the Royal Challengers still managed to sign up a number of quality pacers such as Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and will be hoping that they don't regret their decision to not register a few more bids for Rabada.
Mohammed Siraj:
Royal Challengers Bengaluru's decision to not retain Mohammed Siraj raised a number of eyebrows. Indian fast-bowlers especially someone like Siraj who is a regular in the Indian team across formats have been in demand among the IPL franchises.
However, the Royal Challengers decided against retaining him. Many expected the franchise to bid for the player in the auction or retain him through the RTM option but they decided against it.
Royal Challengers did not make a single bid for the pacer. In the end, Gujarat Titans bought up Siraj for INR 12.25 crore. The Bengaluru-based outfit would be hoping that their decision to not sign Siraj does not come back to haunt them.
KL Rahul:
Even before the start of the auction, the fans were urging the Royal Challengers to go for their former player KL Rahul.
The right-handed batsman has been one of the best batsmen in the IPL in recent years and was one of the biggest attractions in the auction. With Rahul hailing from Karnataka as well, playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru would have been a good move for him.
Royal Challengers registered an early bid for the cricketer and stayed in the race even when the bidding exceeded the 10-crore mark. However, they eventually pulled out of the race and Rahul was bought by Delhi Capitals for 14 crore.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru squad for IPL 2025:
Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Yash Dayal, Liam Livingstone, Phil Salt, Jitesh Sharma, Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Dar, Suyash Sharma, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Swapnil Singh, Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Nuwan Thushara, Manoj Bhandage, Jacob Bethell, Devdutt Padikkal, Swastik Chhikara, Lungi Ngidi, Abhinandan Singh, Mohit Rathee.
