Sunrisers Hyderabad came agonizingly close to winning the IPL last season. Under the captaincy of Pat Cummins, the Hyderabad-based outfit displayed a highly entertaining brand of cricket and blew teams away for fun.
They made it to the final for the first time since 2018 before suffering a loss against Kolkata Knight Riders in the title decider.
For the IPL 2025 season too, Sunrisers Hyderabad have a strong squad. After retaining the likes of Cummins, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy, and Heinrich Klaasen, they have further bolstered their squad with several big signings.
The Sunrisers, however, could not sign all the players that they wanted to sign up in the IPL 2025 mega auction. While they still have a strong squad, they could regret missing out on several players. So, here we are taking a look at three such players.
IPL 2025: Players Sunrisers Hyderabad will regret missing out on
Rishabh Pant:
Rishabh Pant was arguably the biggest name in the auction and Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to go for the India wicketkeeper-batsman. The Hyderabad-based outfit perhaps wanted a big Indian player in their squad and Rishabh Pant was a perfect fit.
A reliable middle-order batsman, Pant would have been a good captaincy option as well. However, the Sunrisers failed to sign up the star cricketer. The Sunrisers registered their first bid for Pant at INR 11.50 crore and were in the race till 20.50 crore.
In the end, Lucknow Super Giants signed him up for a whopping amount of 27 crore and also made him the costliest player in the history of IPL.
Yuzvendra Chahal:
Sunrisers Hyderabad wanted a quality spinner and it was very much evident as they went for a number of spinners in the auction.
The last season's runners-up went really big for India spin star Yuzvendra Chahal who is also the all-time leading wicket-taker in the IPL.
The Sunrisers did not bid for the spinner early on before registering their first bid at INR 14.75 crore. Their last bid for the leg-spinner was 17.75 crore. In the end, Punjab Kings signed up Chahal for 18 crore.
While the Sunrisers could not sign up Chahal, they managed to secure the services of some quality spinners such as Adam Zampa and Rahul Chahar.
T Natarajan:
Sunrisers Hyderabad could miss the services of T Natarajan next season. The left-arm pacer played a key role in the team's march to the final in IPL 2024. In 14 games, Natarajan had picked up an impressive 19 wickets.
However, Sunrisers failed to sign him up. Sunrisers made the opening bid for Natarajan at 2 crore. They, however, decided against going big for the pacer. In the end, Delhi Capitals signed up Natarajan for 10.75 crore.
Even though the Sunrisers missed out on Natarajan, they have a number of quality pacers in their team such as Cummins, Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel, and Brydon Carse.
