IPL 2025 Playoffs Schedule Announced; BCCI Adds Extra Hour To League Matches

The BCCI, on Tuesday (May 20), announced the schedule for the IPL 2025 playoffs matches and the final. While the tournament was originally scheduled to come to an end with the final on May 23, the BCCI had to change the schedule due to the cross-border tension with Pakistan.
The tournament was suspended on May 9 for a week before being resumed on May 17 with the game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The final is now scheduled to be played on June 3.
Before the suspension, Hyderabad and Kolkata were originally scheduled to host the playoffs matches and the final. The BCCI stated that the new venues for the Playoffs were decided by the IPL Governing Council, keeping in mind the weather conditions and other parameters.
The board has announced that the first two games of the IPL 2025 playoffs will be played at the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh. The venue will be hosting the first qualifier on May 29. It will be played between the teams finishing in the top two spots in the points table. The Eliminator between the third and fourth-placed teams will also be played in New Chandigarh on May 30.
"After 70 action-packed league-stage matches filled with energy, drama, thrill, and entertainment; the spotlight will shift to the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh as it gears up to host the much-awaited Qualifier 1 - featuring the top-two ranked sides on Thursday, May 29 followed by an engrossing Eliminator clash on Friday, 30 May," the BCCI stated in a release.

IPL 2025 final to be played in Ahmedabad:
The BCCI also confirmed that the IPL 2025 final will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Along with the final, the venue will also host the second qualifier. The second qualifier will be played on June 1, while the final will be played on June 3.
"The Qualifier 2, to be played between the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator, will take place on Sunday, June 1. The highly-anticipated summit clash, which will crown the winner of the 18th Season of TATA IPL, is set to be played on Tuesday, June 3," the BCCI stated.
The board has also confirmed that the 65th game of the tournament between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad has been shifted from Bengaluru to Lucknow due to unfavourable weather conditions in Bengaluru.
Also, the BCCI has added an extra hour to the remainder of the IPL 2025 league matches.
"Similar to the playoffs stage, an additional one hour will be allocated to the playing conditions for the remaining matches of the league stage, starting Tuesday, 20 May," the statement read.
Meanwhile, three teams - Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings have already booked their spots in the final. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals are now in contention for the remaining one playoffs spot.
