The IPL 2025 is reaching its final stretch with only a couple of days left to see the new champion.
While Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have already booked their place in the IPL 2025 final, all eyes are now on the high-voltage Qualifier 2 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) on June 1 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The winner of IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 will face RCB in the ultimate battle on June 3 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for the coveted IPL trophy.
But just ahead of the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2, a storm broke out on social media, all thanks to a shocking post shared by the official IPL handle on X.
The image featured RCB captain Rajat Patidar standing proudly next to the IPL trophy. But what really caught everyone's attention was the mysterious dark shadow of another cricketer placed beside him, suggesting another finalist for the summit clash.

To add fuel to the fire, the IPL added a blue heart emoji along with a red emoji that refers to the RCB, and it instantly triggered speculation about match-fixing among fans. Many pointed out that the emoji was referring to the Mumbai Indians, whose iconic color is blue.

Talks for the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 fixed intensified as the fans started comparing the shadowy figure and claimed it closely resembled none other than Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya. Many have been accusing the IPL of dropping a massive hint about MI’s potential win over PBKS in Qualifier 2.
Some fans called it clever marketing; others weren’t too pleased, as they reckoned that the second qualifier was fixed and the Punjab Kings were not going to the finals. Some fans also called the MI owner of the franchise Mukesh Ambani a fixer, with some openly claiming the RCB vs MI finals.
IPL's suspicious post triggers uproar among fans:

Mahela Jayawardene credits DC win for MI’s revival in IPL 2025
Meanwhile, MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene revealed that the team’s big turning point this season came in their game against Delhi Capitals. At that point, MI had lost four of their first five matches and were under pressure.
But in that match, three crucial runouts helped them beat the top-ranked DC, and that gave MI the momentum they needed to bounce back in IPL 2025.

Mahela Jayawardene said at the press conference, “The game against Delhi, when we got those three runouts and won, was the turning point of our season. Because we were at that time five games, four losses, and one win. That was a crucial match, and Delhi was the top-of-the-table team. We did get a decent score, but we didn't bowl well. It was a team win, and that just gave us a lot of momentum.”
Notably, Deepak Chahar is fit and ready to take the field for MI in the Qualifier 2 against PBKS. Well, MI has a narrow lead over PBKS in overall IPL, with a 17-16 head-to-head record.
However, PBKS has a 3-2 advantage in recent matches since 2022. In Qualifier 2 history, MI have won twice and lost twice, while PBKS won their only Qualifier 2 appearance back in 2014, beating CSK by 24 runs.
