Dinesh Karthik explains why Rajat Patidar got the captaincy

Meanwhile, the newly appointed captain, Rajat Patidar, has the responsibility of leading a completely revamped Bengaluru team in the upcoming season. The franchise made bold moves in the IPL 2025 mega auction, retaining only Virat Kohli and Yash Dayal apart from Patidar and bringing in fresh faces to overhaul the squad in order to taste success this year.

Speaking on Patidar’s appointment, Karthik said: “The way he led Madhya Pradesh during the domestic season was fantastic. A lot of good things players had to say about the way he led the team. So that really encouraged us, and we wanted a new leader considering it’s a fresh group of players and it’s going to be a fresh cycle as well. These two things prompted us to make Rajat our captain.”
