Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been quite busy lately. After playing in the first game of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024, Pant fulfilled captain’s duty for the Delhi Capitals (DC) and then joined the Indian players in flight for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

The talented wicketkeeper-batter arrived in Chennai on Friday, September 13, along with Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and others. While Rohit Sharma landed in Chennai separately, Virat Kohli also arrived directly from London, where he was residing with his family for over six months.

Rishabh Pant balances IPL duties and national commitments

Well, the preparations for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are already underway behind the scenes, with the IPL 2025 mega auction expected to be held in December-January.

Presently, the IPL franchises are busy finalizing their retentions. As all teams set to submit their list of retained and released players to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) soon, Pant headed to JSW Center BKC to meet the Delhi Capitals (DC) owners to finalize the players they want to retain ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Since the left-handed batter would be busy with national assignments with the Bangladesh Tests followed by the New Zealand series and the Australia tour, the DC captain made sure to complete his IPL task.

Ricky Ponting hails Rishabh Pant

This series will kick off India’s busy home season. Earlier, Ponting called Pant a "serious cricketer," and even the Aussie great compared the DC skipper’s numbers to the legendary MS Dhoni, ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 starting November 22 in Perth, between India and Australia.

Ponting was quoted as saying by Sky Sports: “Pant must have 4 or 5 Test hundreds already, and he's got about nine 90s as well. [MS] Dhoni played for 120 Tests (90) and made 3 or 4 hundreds (6); this is how good this guy (Pant) is. He's a serious cricketer.”
