IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant shares cryptic Instagram stories amid rumors of being sacked as DC captain

India National Cricket Team superstar wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has shared a couple of cryptic stories on his official Instagram handle that have left the fans guessing.

His stories have been posted amid heavy rumors of his sacking as the skipper of the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and fans have started connecting stories, especially the latest one, to his future with the franchise.

Rishabh Pant To Be Retained By Delhi Capitals But Not As Captain

A recent report in TOI, broke the internet as it suggested that the Delhi Capitals management has decided to remove Rishabh Pant from captaincy.

It was revealed that the star wicketkeeper-batsman recently had a meeting with Delhi Capitals' co-owners Parth Jindal and Kiran Kumar Grandhi, where the discussions over his future with the franchise took place.

A source stated that the DC management feels that Pant is better off without the burden of captaincy on him and they have already started the search for a new skipper, with Pant's deputy at DC, Axar Patel, being one of the hot candidates for the job.

Notably, the source also stated that Pant will be the first retention of the Delhi Capitals ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction and Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav could be second and third retentions.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant posted two cryptic stories on his Instagram account after the conclusion of the Test series opener against New Zealand National Cricket Team at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, October 20.

Notably, India lost the first Test against New Zealand by 8 wickets and Pant was one of the top performers for his side in the match. He contributed 20 runs when India got bowled out for 46 and then scored a heartbreaking 99 in the second innings.

Coming back to his Instagram activity, in the first story, the wicketkeeper-batsman shared a quote that read: "Believe in your vision, even when others can't see it. Your belief is the seed of your future success."

However, his latest story was the one that gained more attraction with the fans claiming it was related to the reports of his sacking as skipper at DC. "Sometimes it's best to just be quiet and let God show people," the quote from the second story read.

Notably, Rishabh Pant was appointed as the skipper of the Delhi Capitals ahead of the Indian Premier League 2021 when Shreyas Iyer got injured before the competition. Although Iyer returned for the second half of the league, Pant was retained as captain by the franchise with Iyer even being released before the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Delhi Capitals finished at the sixth position in the Indian Premier League 2024 and will be hoping for a better outing next season. To achieve that goal, they have made changes to their support staff replacing head coach Ricky Ponting and Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly with Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao.
