Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill believes that a team scoring 300 runs in the IPL is not far away ahead of the upcoming season. With the upcoming IPL 2025 set to begin on March 22, Shubman Gill feels this milestone could be achieved this year, given the high-scoring encounters last year.
The IPL 2024 saw some record-breaking totals, with nine out of the ten highest team scores in the tournament's history coming from the last season. Teams crossed the 250-run mark nine times, and there were multiple totals in the 240s as well.
In one of the most explosive games, Punjab Kings successfully chased 262 against Kolkata Knight Riders with eight balls to spare, showcasing how batting firepower has evolved in T20 cricket. One major factor behind these record-breaking totals is the Impact Player rule, which allows teams to strengthen their batting or bowling depending on the match situation.

Shubman Gill said on JioHotstar, “The pace of the game has reached a point where it feels like we could score 300 in a match. Last year, we came very close on a few occasions. The Impact Player rule adds excitement and makes the IPL even more entertaining.”
