Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra roasted Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 over their win against CSK last year. He said that the franchise celebrated the win against CSK as if they won the league.

In what was the most entertaining match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to qualify for the playoffs of the tournament. The Bengaluru-based team won the game by 27 runs and knocked out the five-time champions.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) snatched the win from the jaws of defeat as MS Dhoni kept Chennai Super Kings in the hunt

It was surely more than a win for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as a lot of emotions were involved. Even Virat Kohli was in tears and the crowd at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru celebrated wildly, and it seemed like something big had happened.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) snatched the win from the jaws of defeat as MS Dhoni kept Chennai Super Kings in the hunt. The keeper-batter was going all guns blazing and it was almost certain that they would win the game. But that wasn't the case as Yash Dayal came in as a barrier for the CSK.

RCB players celebrated the win wildly, and it didn't go with the fans and ex-players of Chennai Super Kings

Yash Dayal held his nerves as he removed MS Dhoni in the last over and sealed the game for his team. The left-arm pacer took two wickets as RCB stopped Chennai Super Kings from chasing 219 runs as they made their way into the Eliminator of the tournament.

The RCB players celebrated the win wildly, and it didn't go with the fans and ex-players of Chennai Super Kings. They were of the opinion that they shouldn't have celebrated the way they did as they didn't win the tournament and it was just a match in the league stage.

It then turned out to be a massive controversy as players of both franchises took jibes at each other on social media. It invited fan wars, too, as the rivalry between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru took a new twist.

They defeated CSK, and they celebrated as if the Trophy was theirs - Aakash Chopra

As the schedule of the IPL 2025 was announced, Aakash Chopra, while talking about the match between the two teams, took a jibe at the Rajat Patidar-led side. He said that the franchise celebrated as if they won the tournament after knocking out Chennai Super Kings.

Speaking on Star Sports, he said: "They defeated CSK, and they celebrated as if the trophy was theirs. It was like the end for them; they were like they knocked out Chennai Super Kings who could've won and qualified."

Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be up against each other twice in the IPL 2025. The first game will be taking place at the Chepauk Stadium on 28th March while the reverse fixture is slated to take place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 3rd.
