IPL 2025 suspended for one week

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made the decision to suspend the IPL 2025 for one week due to the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

In an official statement, BCCI said that the decision was made in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders. Also, BCCI praised the Indian Armed Forces for protecting the country from Pakistan's cowardly attacks and the unwarranted aggression by their armed forces.

58 matches have so far been completed in the Indian Premier League 2025, including the abandoned clash between the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala. 12 more group stage matches remain, along with the Qualifier 1, Qualifier 2, Eliminator, and the grand final.

Talking about the upcoming matches, the BCCI stated that 'further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation.'

IPL 2025 might be shifted to England

Amid uncertainty over the completion of the Indian Premier League 2025, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has decided to offer a helping hand to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

According to a report in The Cricketer, the ECB has officially reached out to the BCCI with the offer to host the remaining matches of the IPL 2025 in England and make all the necessary arrangements regarding the same.

"The Cricketer understands contact has been made with the BCCI, after the 10-team tournament was suspended for a week after an increase in military tensions between India and Pakistan," the report read.

Currently, there is no confirmation on whether the BCCI is ready to accept the offer of the ECB or conduct the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2025 in India.

Notably, former England skipper Michael Vaughan also came up with a suggestion to host the IPL 2025 matches in England by highlighting how the Indian players can extend their stay in the country for the upcoming high-profile five-match Test series.

Madan Lal drops verdict on suspension of IPL

In an interaction with ANI, former India National Cricket Team player Madan Lal shared his take on the decision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to suspend the ongoing season of IPL.

He said that the BCCI made a good decision as things are not right at the moment, with India being in a war-like situation with Pakistan.

"Look, the BCCI has taken a good decision. At present, our country India, is fighting Pakistan, so I don't think it's a good thing if we continue the IPL.

"Then we can wait for the rest of the decision, the BCCI should take only after consulting the government," Madan Lal said.
