The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has crossed the halfway mark, and the fans have witnessed some amazing encounters, from super overs to the highest run chase and some breathtaking centuries. The tournament will be entering its 44th game tonight as two of the most successful teams, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), will be taking on the Mumbai Indians (MI).
Ahead of the El Clasico of the IPL, the India Women's National Cricket Team was announced for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. During the same press conference, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia provided an update on the IPL, as he mentioned the announcement date of the playoff date for IPL 2026.
IPL playoffs schedule is coming in two days- Devajit Saikia
"IPL playoffs schedule is coming in two days. The BCCI is seriously thinking about taking measures so that the IPL's reputation is not damaged," said BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia. When asked about the convention of last year's finalists hosting the Playoffs, Saikia said, "You can keep asking, but I will not say anything for now."
Previously, the governing council of the IPL released the group stage match dates in two phases due to the Assembly Elections in India. It was reported last month by India Today that the announcement on the venues for the playoffs, including the final, would be Bengaluru and New Chandigarh.
However, there has still been no update on the playoff venues or the dates. The game is nearing the closing stages with 26 matches to be played. In May, there are no double header fixtures on Saturdays; they will only be on Sundays.
India ready to compete in Women's T20 World Cup 2026
Except for the IPL playoffs update, the BCCI secretary also gave an update on the women's team's departure for the upcoming major ICC competition. He said, "The team will leave on the 22nd."
India, Pakistan, Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands are in the same group. This will be an exciting group, and it is expected to be a group of death, with the three best teams competing against each other.
India announces squad for T20 World Cup and England
The same group of players named for the T20 World Cup will also play in a three-match T20I series in England, which will serve as preparation ahead of the World Cup. Apart from the T20 World Cup squad, India also announced the squad for the one-off Test match against England.
