The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the venue and the dates for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction. The event will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and will take place on November 24 and 25
There were a lot of speculations going around the venue of the Indian Premier League 2025 auction. Some reports claimed that apart from Saudi Arabia, BCCI also looked at several options in London, Dubai, and Singapore, but ultimately, it was Saudi that got the nod ahead.
The likes of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant will go under the hammer
The Indian Premier League 2025 auction arguably will be one of the biggest in the history of the league. This time around, all the teams have an increased purse as it has been raised from INR 100 crore to INR 120 crore, which is the highest ever in the history of the tournament.
All the franchises have given their list of retained and released players and the auction this time around will see some of the biggest names in Indian cricket. The likes of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant will go under the hammer in the IPL 2025 auction as their discussions with their respective franchises couldn't reach conclusive points.
With some of the franchises in dire need of players who can captain the team, there are high chances that some of the major records might get shattered as well. Some of the big overseas names in Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell, and Jos Buttler will go under the hammer, and Saudi Arabia is likely to see history getting scripted.
A total of 1,574 players will be part of the IPL 2025 auction
A total of 1,574 players (1,165 Indian and 409 overseas) will be part of the IPL 2025 auction. Out of the total lot of players, there will be 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations. Also, a total of 204 slots will be up for grabs as each team will have to fill their squad with a maximum of 25 players.

Punjab Kings will be heading into the IPL 2025 auction with the biggest purse
Punjab Kings will be heading into the IPL 2025 auction with the biggest purse remaining (INR 110.5 crore). They retained just two uncapped players - Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh - for a total of INR 9.5 crore. Rajasthan Royals have the smallest purse of INR 41 crore after they, along with Kolkata Knight Riders, retained the maximum of six players. KKR will have INR 51 crore to spend at the auction.
