IPL Auction 2025: CSK officially reveal list of retained players

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have officially revealed their retentions ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. The five-time Champions have named 5 players whom they will be keeping with them going into the next edition of the cash-rich League.

Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad is the first retention for the Chennai Super Kings. The young India National Cricket Team batter has been with the team for the last few years and last year was appointed as the captain. This came after MS Dhoni stepped down as the leader and passed on the baton.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been the leading batter for the Chennai Super Kings in the last few years. The right-hander has scored truckloads of runs and has been the mainstay of the batting lineup for the team and has been the main reason behind the success of the team in the IPL of late.

Ravindra Jadeja is the second retention for CSK

Premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is the second retention for CSK for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The all-rounder has been the key performer for the team since the last decade and has played a major role in making the team the most successful in the league.

Jadeja has also been part of the Chennai Super Kings leadership group. He was appointed as the captain of the team in 2022, but the move didn't work as after that, MS Dhoni took over the leadership again, but the all-rounder's contribution to the team has been immense.

Matheesha Pathirana is the third retention of CSK

Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana is the third retention of CSK.

The fast bowler has been the product of the franchise, and with the way he has developed, it's fair to say that his retention was almost on the cards as he has been the best bowler for the team in the death, winning many games for the team.

MS Dhoni retained as the uncapped player

Former skipper MS Dhoni is the 4th retention for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The keeper-batter will be retained in the uncapped player category and will be getting INR 4 crore. He recently confirmed his availability to the CEO of the team and it will be a huge gift for the fans that he will be on the field for one more season.

Dhoni has been the main man behind Chennai Super Kings being the most successful franchise in the league. The keeper-batter has guided the team to five titles in the league. His presence will be a massive boost for the team for the upcoming edition of the tournament.

New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra or Devon Conway would be the 5th player that CSK will be retaining. They have played a decent role for the team. It's fair to say that the franchise would've picked one among them, keeping an eye on the future.
