After a disappointing bottom-three finish in IPL 2024, the Gujarat Titans are heading into the mega auction with rebuilding plans and a substantial ₹69 crore purse.
The 2022 champions have retained just five key players after investing ₹51 crore to secure their core group, marking their most extensive roster overhaul since their inaugural season.
Afghan spin wizard Rashid Khan has topped the retention list at ₹18 crore, maintaining his status as the franchise's highest-paid player.
Captain Shubman Gill who took over from Hardik Pandya in 2024 follows at ₹16.5 crore after accepting a slight pay cut to accommodate the team's strategic needs of Gujarat Titans.
The emerging talent Sai Sudharsan secured his spot at ₹8.5 crore, while finishers Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan were retained at ₹4 crore each.
The franchise's decision to release 20 players, including stalwarts Mohammed Shami and David Miller shows a clear intent to reshape their squad.
Shami's absence particularly hurt GT in 2024 as they struggled to replicate his impressive tally of 28 wickets from the previous season.
The team's performance declined after Pandya's departure to Mumbai Indians after managing only five wins in fourteen matches under Gill's leadership.
The franchise is aggressively pursuing Kishan during the 2022 auction and valuing his explosive batting style and existing rapport with captain Gill.
Their shopping list also includes experienced middle-order batters to fill the void left by Miller's departure.
The bowling department requires significant reinforcement with Australian pacers Mitchell Starc and Trent Boult likely on their radar.
The team holds one Right to Match (RTM) card and will spark speculation about Gujarat Titans' potential bid to bring back Shami whose experience in critical phases of the game proved invaluable during their successful campaigns.
