IPL Auction 2025: Mallika Sagar announced as auctioneer for mega event

In what has been the latest development as per the reports in Times of India, it is learned that Mallika Sagar will be conducting the auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The event will take place in Jeddah on November 24 and 25.
Mallika Sagar is a reputed name in Indian cricket and has a fair amount of experience in this field. She conducted the Women's Premier League (WPL) auction in the past and replaced Hugh Edmeades as the auctioneer for the 2024 edition of the cash-rich league.
Mallika Sagar has two decades of experience as an auctioneer
Mallika Sagar, who became the first female auctioneer last year, has two decades of experience as an auctioneer. Based on her success, she has been asked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to continue in the role.
Previously, the IPL auctions have been conducted by only men. The likes of Richard Madley, Hugh Edmeades, and Charu Sharma have been doing the job. Mallika Sagar, apart from the IPL, had conducted an auction for the eighth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).
The IPL 2025 auction,which wil be conducted by Mallika Sagar, will be one of the biggest events ever as all the teams will be the big purse of INR 120 crores. The franchises have named their list of retained and released players as well, and some of the big names this time around will be in the auction, and it's fair to say that some of the massive records are shattered.

A total of total of 1,574 players (1,165 Indian and 409 overseas) will be part of the IPL 2025 auction. Out of the total lot of players, there will be 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations. Also, a total of 204 slots will be up for grabs as each team will have to fill a maximum squad of 25 players.
Punjab Kings will have the biggest purse in IPL 2025 auction
Heading into the IPL 2025 auction, Punjab Kings will have the biggest purse remaining of INR 110.5 crore. This is because they retained just two uncapped players, Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh, for a total of INR 9.5 crore. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals have the smallest purse of INR 41 crore after they, along with Kolkata Knight Riders, retained the maximum of six players.
Kolkata Knight Riders will be having a purse of INR 51 crore to spend at the auction. Franchises in Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians are done with the trials while RCB, LSG are likely to have theirs after November 16.
