IPL Auction 2025: RCB Player List, Squad, Team List

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) enters the IPL 2025 auction with their biggest purse ever of Rs 83 crore after retaining just three players and are looking for a maiden IPL title after 17 trophyless seasons.
The three-time IPL finalists kept faith in Virat Kohli as their highest retention at Rs 21 crore, making him the most expensive Indian retention this season. Middle-order batter Rajat Patidar (Rs 11 crore) and left-arm pacer Yash Dayal (Rs 4 crore) rounded out their retained roster.
The franchise's decision to release 14 players, including key performers Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell shows a major overhaul. Siraj had been RCB's bowling spearhead since 2018, claiming 83 wickets in 87 matches. Maxwell, despite a poor 2024 season had been instrumental in RCB's playoffs qualification in previous years.
RCB's strategy appears focused on addressing their persistent death bowling woes, which saw them concede an average of 11.2 runs per over in the final four overs during IPL 2024. Their spin department also needs strengthening after taking only 23 wickets in the middle overs last season.
The team is expected to target former player KL Rahul, who could serve dual roles as wicketkeeper-batsman and potential captain. A homecoming for ex-RCB spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, the highest wicket-taker at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, is also anticipated.

With three Right to Match (RTM) cards available, RCB could aim to bring back Siraj, Maxwell, or Will Jacks, who scored the second-fastest century of IPL 2024 against Gujarat Titans.
The auction represents RCB's most crucial recruitment drive since their last major overhaul in 2022 when they spent Rs 57 crore to acquire seven players. Their success in assembling a competitive squad could determine whether they can finally end their title drought in 2025.
