Rishabh Pant is not yet confirmed to be retained by the Delhi Capitals franchise. It is believed that the new management of Delhi Capitals is still discussing whether they want to retain Pant or not.

Pant has been Delhi Capitals captain since 2021 (except in 2023 when he was injured due to a horrific car accident). Under his leadership, Delhi Capitals reached the playoffs just once (in 2021). However, they were unable to reach the final that season.

The wicketkeeper-batter is a marquee player for Delhi Capitals. He has been associated with the franchise ever since his IPL debut in 2016 and has played some vital knocks so far. However, the change in Delhi Capitals management has changed the whole scenario and Pant's name could be back in the auction pool.

Rishabh Pant to leave Delhi Capitals?

According to the reports from Sports Tak, Rishabh Pant wants to stay with Delhi Capitals till the last moment. The left-handed batter has a special connection with the franchise having played for them since the start.

The reports also claim that it will be Pant's decision whether he wants to stay in Delhi Capitals or not. He is believed to be in talks with the franchise and will take a final decision depending upon his future.

If Delhi does not retain Pant, the franchise can also use the Right to Match (RTM) card for him. But it won't be a straightforward thing as Pant is one of the emerging stars of the IPL.

Delhi Capitals to use RTM for Rishabh Pant?

He is likely to go for a high price in the mega auction if he appears in the auction pool. It will be interesting to see if Delhi Capitals retain Rishabh Pant or not. If the franchise retains him, he could receive a massive retention price as well.

Pant did not play in the IPL 2023 season as he suffered a horrific car accident just a few months before the season. Delhi had a disappointing season and finished ninth in the points table. He returned to IPL 2024 with a bang and had a terrific season with the bat.

Rishabh Pant's IPL numbers

Pant has played 111 matches in IPL so far and scored 3284 runs at an impressive average of 35.31 and a strike rate of 148.93. He has 1 hundred and 18 fifties to his name as well.

He is a destructive batter once he is set at the crease. Pant is equally good against both pace and spin and is an X-factor for any team. Recently, he was in India's team that won the T20 World Cup 2024 title.

The deadline for the submission of retained players is October 31. All the teams will have to submit the list of retained players by the date. A team can retain a maximum of six players with a maximum of two uncapped Indian players.
