IPL Auction 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad Player List, Squad, Team List

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head into the IPL 2025 mega auction with a mixed bag of retained talent and some tough choices ahead after having spent ₹75 crore retaining five key players, they have a remaining purse of ₹45 crore.

The two-day auction, taking place in Jeddah on November 24th and 25th was critical for SRH to fill key gaps in their squad.

SRH has retained many classy players. Heinrich Klaasen, the hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batsman, leads the pack with a hefty ₹23 crore retention price. Pace spearhead Pat Cummins follows at ₹18 crore.

Young talents Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, both capable openers, are retained for ₹14 crores each while promising all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy rounds out the retained list at ₹6 crores.

Klaasen’s power-hitting and Head and Sharma have opening style. Nitish Kumar Reddy provides stability in the middle order. Cummins anchors the pace attack. However, questions remain about their overall balance.

One constraint for Sunrisers Hyderabad is their single Right-to-Match (RTM) card, usable only on an uncapped Indian player. This limits their flexibility in reclaiming released players who performed well for them in previous seasons.

Several big names like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Washington Sundar, T Natarajan, and Rahul Tripathi were released potentially leaving holes in their bowling and middle-order batting.

The franchise will need to address key areas in the auction. A solid number three batsman capable against both spin and pace is crucial. Potential targets could include players like Rahul Tripathi or Shreyas Iyer.

They also need a powerful lower-order hitter and a reliable finger spinner with batting ability. Players like Krunal Pandya and Harpreet Brar could fit the bill.

Strengthening their bowling attack is another priority. SRH needs a wicket-taking wrist spinner and both powerplay and death-over specialists.

Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult, and T Natarajan would be ideal acquisitions, but their high demand and Sunrisers Hyderabad's limited purse could make these challenging targets.
