Auctioneer Mallika Sagar made a huge blunder on Day 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, which is currently underway at the Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The blunder made by Mallika Sagar on Monday, November 25, nearly led to the clash between the officials of the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

The 19-year-old Uttar Pradesh batter Swastik Chikara's name was announced by the auctioneer Mallika Sagar during the accelerated round.

The highest run-scorer in the UPT20 league 2024 entered the auction with a base price of INR 30 lakh. Royal Challengers Bengaluru made the opening bid for him, and Mallika Sagar brought the hammer down after checking around the room, selling Swastik Chikara to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for INR 30 lakh.
However, moments later, there was some activity at the Delhi Capitals table, and the camera panned towards the DC management. The DC head coach, Hemang Badani, was seen telling the auctioneer that they raised the paddle for the Uttar Pradesh star.
However, Mallika Sagar told them that she didn't see it. Looking at this, the officials sitting at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru table looked furious and they were seen gesturing that the deal has been done and bidding shouldn't continue.
Despite being disappointed, the Delhi Capitals management told the auctioneer 'it's okay' and everybody just moved on.

Mallika Sagar also made blunders on Day 1
Mallika Sagar made some huge errors on Day 1 as well. Starting with the selling of Jos Buttler for INR 15.75 crore to Gujarat Titans.
Notably, she had a lapse in concentration when Jos Buttler was being auctioned. The Gujarat Titans were at INR 15.50 crore when she asked LSG whether they were interested in increasing the bid to 15.75. LSG pulled out of the race, but she mistakenly said INR 15.75 crore instead of INR 15.50 crore, and Buttler was sold for INR 15.75 crore.
Another major blunder made by Mallika Sagar was during the bidding process of Abhinav Manohar. After an intense bidding war between the franchises, Abhinav Manohar was declared sold to SRH for INR 2.80 crore, and the hammer went down.
However, the bid was open again at INR 3 crore as Mallika Sagar said that the Kolkata Knight Riders had put their paddle up and she wasn't able to see it. SRH then bid INR 20 lakh more and acquired Manohar for INR 3.20 crore.
We are very happy to get Liam Livingstone - Andy Flower
Speaking to One Cricket, Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach Andy Flower expressed his delight over the acquisition of the English all-rounder Liam Livingstone for INR 8.75 crore.
He said that the England star is a dangerous player and is quite versatile.
"We are very happy to get Liam Livingstone. He is a very very dangerous player obviously huge power but very versatile as well, given that he bowls legspin and offspin. So having that spin addition to our attack is really nice to secure early in the auction," Flower said.
