IPL auction 2026: Overseas Players Who Could Become IPL Fan Favorites

Matheesha Pathirana:

Matheesha Pathirana is one of the biggest attractions in this year's IPL auction. The right-arm pacer was a shock release by Chennai Super Kings and is expected to cause a bidding war at the IPL auction. While he has struggled with injuries throughout is career, not many would argue against his talent.

Pathirana's bowling looks tailor-made for T20 cricket and he could become a fan favourite if he manages to live up to the expectations. The Sri Lanka star has played 32 matches in the IPL so far and has taken 47 wickets. He is known for his deadly yorker and could turn out to be an asset for any team.

Cameron Green:

Australia star Cameron Green is being backed by many to become the most expensive player in this year's IPL auction. Allrounders have always attracted big amount in the IPL auction and Green could hit the jackpot this year. Although he is an allrounder, he has registered himself as a batter in order to be auctioned in the very first round.

Green has played in two IPL seasons and has the potential to become a fan favourite thanks to his all-round skills. The Australia allrounder has already hit a century in the IPL and will be eager to prove himself in the tournament.

Jake Fraser-McGurk:

Things have not gone well for Jake Fraser-McGurk in recent months but there is absolutely no denying that he can blow away any team on his day. He made his IPL debut in 2024 and hit the ground running. The right-handed batsman played 9 games in his debut season and scored 330 runs at a staggering strike-rate of 234.

He also hit four half-centuries. However, he failed to deliver with the bat in IPL 2025 and was released by Delhi Capitals. Fraser-McGurk has registered for this year's IPL auction and would be hoping to attract some bids. His attacking style of batting can definitely make him a fan favourite.
