IPL Playoff scenarios for CSK, RCB, DC and LSG if SRH vs GT is washed out

The start of the game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium has been delayed due to rain and a wet outfield. The game was scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM but there is already a delay of more than an hour as rain has been playing spoilsport so far.

There is a chance that the game might get washed out just like the game between GT and Kolkata Knight Riders earlier this week. In case the game gets washed out, it will have a big impact on the playoff race. So far, only KKR and Rajasthan Royals have booked their place in the playoffs.

As many as five teams are still in contention for the playoffs - Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Lucknow Super Giants. On the other hand, GT, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings have been knocked out of the competition already.

What is SRH vs GT is washed out:

If the game between SRH and GT is washed out, SRH will become the third team to qualify after KKR and RR. The washout will take their points tally to 15 points and will take them to the third spot in the points table. It would also make the game between CSK and RCB a virtual semifinal.

RCB must win the game to make it to the playoffs. Not only that, they will also have to improve their net run rate to finish above CSK. On the other hand, CSK can qualify for the playoffs even after a loss if they manage to ensure a better net run rate than RCB. At present, CSK's (+0.528) net run rate is better than RCB's (+0.387).

As far as DC and LSG are concerned, their chances are extremely low. DC have finished their league campaign with 14 points and a net run-rate of -0.377. On the other hand, LSG will be in contention only if they manage to win their last league game to finish on 14 points. Even then, their chances are extremely low because of their poor net run-rate which is -0.787.
