The IPL 2025 was host to CSK vs RCB on Friday (28th March). The battle of South between the teams took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, which saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru winning for the first time in 18 years against Chennai Super Kings at their home.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered their second straight win of the IPL 2025 as they beat Chennai Super Kings by 50 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday. Asked to bat, Phil Salt (32) took his team off to a flying start with the bat as he took attack to bowlers right from the start.
He added 45 runs in the opening stand with Virat Kohli (30), who looked scratchy in his innings. Devdutt Padikkal (27), who batted at three, played a magical cameo to up the ante but Chennai Super Kings bowlers kept chipping with wickets at regular intervals.
Skipper Rajat Patidar (51) had his fair share of luck but he cashed on that and slammed a magnificent half-century to keep his team on track. Tim David (22*) provided a great finishing touch, hitting three sixes in the last over, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted a total of 196 for seven. For Chennai Super Kings, Noor Ahmad picked three wickets.
Chennai Super Kings had a worst possible start to their chase as they lost their three wickets inside in the powerplay and were left reeling at 26 for three. Rachin Ravindra (41) tried to hold one end, but he didn't get support at the other, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers putting continuous pressure on batters.
With the team at 99 for seven, Ravindra Jadeja (25) showed some fight, but it didn't last long. MS Dhoni (30*) in last provided some entertainment to fans few hits but the target was beyond reach as Bengaluru restricted Chennai to 146 for eight to win the game by 50 runs.

After CSK vs RCB, Match 8, Royal Challengers Bengaluru retained their spot at the top of the table, with Lucknow Super Giants in second and Punjab Kings at three. Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad moved one step up, while Chennai Super Kings dropped to 7th.
