The IPL 2025 was host to two games on Saturday (5th April). CSK vs DC was the first game that took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. PBKS vs RR was the second match that was played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
In the CSK vs DC, Delhi Capitals continued their golden touch in the IPL 2025 as they beat Chennai Super Kings by 25 runs. Opting to bat, the visitors lost Jake Fraser-McGurk for a four-ball duck in the first over. But after that, KL Rahul (77) and Abishek Porel (33) brought their team back into the game with their 54-run stand for the second wicket.
Rahul held the one end and batted till the very end while others around supported him well. Axar Patel (21), Sameer Rizvi (20) and Tristan Stubbs (24*) played decent hands as well. Thanks to their collective effort, Delhi Capitals posted a total of 183 for six in CSK vs DC.
Chennai Super Kings had a terrible start to their chase, and after that, they didn't recover. Rachin Ravindra, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Devon Conway fell early as they were left reeling at 41 for three. Shivam Dube (18) and Ravindra Jadeja also failed as Delhi Capitals bowlers kept chipping in with wickets at regular intervals.
Vijay Shankar (69*) was the shining light for his team as he slammed a solid fifty. MS Dhoni (30*) couldn't get his timing right as both, despite their unbeaten 84-run partnership, Chennai Super Kings failed to chase the target as they lost the CSK vs DC game by 25 runs.
In the PBKS vs RR, Rajasthan Royals were back to the winning ways as they beat Punjab Kings by 50 runs. Asked to bat, Rajasthan Royals had a fantastic start to their innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal (67) and skipper Sanju Samson (38) going great guns.
The duo added 89 runs for the opening partnership as Punjab bowlers had no answers to their brilliance. Riyan Parag (43*), at three, played a brilliant hand as well, ensuring that he stayed there till the end. Shimron Hetmyer (20) came up with brutal blows in the end that powered Rajasthan Royals to a total of 205 for four.
Punjab Kings had the worst possible start to their innings in the chase. Priyansh Arya got out on the first ball of the innings while Shreyas Iyer, who hit two boundaries, fell on the last ball of over. Marcus Stoinis and Prabhsimran Singh also failed to make a mark as the hosts were left tottering at 43 for four.
It was then that Nehal Wadhera (62) and Glenn Maxwell (30) joined hands and brought the team back into the game. The Wadhera-Maxwell duo added 88 runs for the fifth wicket to tilt the game in this favor.
But Rajasthan Royals made a solid comeback and picked both batters on two back-to-back balls. After that, Punjab King's batters couldn't get going as Rajasthan reduced the opposition to a total of 155 for nine to win the game by 50 runs.
