The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was host to two games on Tuesday (8th April). KKR vs LSG was the first game that took place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata while PBKS vs CSK game, which took place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.
In KKR vs LSG, the Rishabh Pant-led side registered their third win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as they beat Kolkata Knight Riders by four runs. Asked to bat, the visitors were off to a flying start with the ball as Aiden Markram (47) and Mitchell Marsh (81) didn't put a foot wrong.
The duo added 99 runs for the opening partnership before Nicholas Pooran (87*) joined Marsh and the duo together made Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers look clueless with their 71-run stand. Pooran batted till the end and took his team to the massive total of 238 for three in the KKR vs LSG clash.
Kolkata Knight Riders didn't have a great start with the bat as Quinton de Kock fell early for 15. But after that, skipper Ajinkya Rahane (61) and Sunil Narine (30) joined hands and brought the team back into the game with their 54-run stand.
Later, Venkatesh Iyer (45) also played a valuable hand, but Lucknow Super Giants kept picking wickets at regular intervals to put the hosts under pressure. Rinku Singh (38*) tried his best in the end but lacked support as Kolkata Knight Riders fell short by just four runs in KKR vs LSG, ending with 234 for seven.
In the second PBKS vs CSK game, Punjab Kings, who won the toss, started very solid with the bat as Priyansh Arya (103) slammed 17 runs off the first over against Khaleel Ahmed. However, after that, nothing went their way as they lost five wickets in no time and were left reeling at 83 for five inside eight overs.
But young Priyansh held the one end and played a counter-attacking innings, slamming his maiden ton in the league in just 39 balls. Shashank Singh (52*) provided great support to him as they added 71 runs for the sixth wicket. Marco Jansen (34*) also played a vital hand in the end as Punjab Kings posted a gigantic total of 219 for six.
Chennai Super Kings had a solid start to their chase with Rachin Ravindra (36) and Devon Conway (69) adding 61 runs for the opening partnership. After that, the visitors lost two quick wickets but Conway and Shivam Dube (42) came up with the rescue charge again.
The duo added 89 runs for the fourth wicket but both were back in the hut at crucial junctures of the game. MS Dhoni (27) kept his team in the hunt with his brutal knock but couldn't take his team home. Chennai Super Kings managed 201 for five, falling short of 18 runs.
