IPL will be under radar as the match-fixing mafia is linked to India, former Pakistan fast bowler Aaqib Javed has allegedly said. Javed was in the forefront while exposing the 1990s match fixing scandal in Pakistan cricket. He also said that he has received death threats for his previous accusations on Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Saleem Malik.

In the 1990s, Javed had said in a statement that Wasim Akram had kept him out of team as he had denied to fix matches. He had also criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for paving way for fast bowler Mohammad Amir’s return.

Questions raised over IPL, match-fixing mafia linked to India: Aaqib Javed

Javed has brought the IPL under radar, saying that there are questions asked over the tournament as India is the hub of match-fixing, and the mafia is linked to the country. He also added, once someone gets into fixing it is difficult to get out of it, and no one has the courage to take any action against the mafia.

“Questions have been raised over IPL in the past. Match-fixing mafia is linked to India,” Javed told Geo News.

“There is no way out once you decide to get yourself into it (fixing). Nobody has the courage to take any sort of action against the mafia yet,” he added.

In 2013, Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested for alleged spot-fixing by the Delhi Police. All the three players represented Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2013 but where cleared in 2015 after not found guilty.
