IPL 2024: Wasim Jaffer brutally trolls Mohammad Kaif over his World Cup 2023 final comments after RR's loss to SRH

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer took a hilarious dig at Mohammad Kaif over his ICC World Cup 2023 final comments after Rajasthan Royals' loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Thursday (3rd May). The match between the teams took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Mohammad Kaif was trolled a lot after his comments following India's loss to Australia in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. The former India cricketer wasn't ready to accept that the Rohit Sharma-led side lost the summit clash despite winning 10 back-to-back games in the tournament.

Mohammad Kaif stated that the best team on the paper was India and he wouldn't accept that the best team in the tournament didn't win. Speaking during the discussion on Star Sports after the final of the ICC World Cup 2023, he had stated:

"Congratulations to Australia but I am not ready to accept that the best team won the World Cup. This Indian team has been the best side. They would win so many times playing against the same Australian team, even though they lost today. It was one of those bad day, this happens sometimes."

A few months later after that, Wasim Jaffer seized an opportunity to troll Mohammad Kaif. He took to his Twitter account and posted a picture of the latter in which he looked stunned after Rajasthan Royals' 1-run loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad. He posted the picture with the caption: "MohammadKaif when the stronger team on paper ends up losing the game".

Rajasthan Royals, who are table toppers in the IPL 2024, suffered a disappointing loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad. It's fair to say that it was one of the most exciting games of the tournament as the result was decided on the last ball at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Chasing the target of 202 runs, Rajasthan Royals lost early wickets but Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag batter brilliantly. In the end, Rovman Powell took the game deep, and with 2 runs needed off the last ball, he got out as Sunrisers Hyderabad clinched the game by 1 run.

Mohammad Kaif recently talked about India's chances for the T20 World Cup 2024. He believes that the upcoming tournament will be a great opportunity for Rohit Sharma as the captain. He is hopeful that India won't face the same heartbreak as they did in the ICC World Cup 2023. He stated:

"Rohit Sharma knows that he won’t be playing for long, maybe for the next 2 to 3 years. Virat Kohli is also on the same path. It’s a big opportunity for Rohit as a captain. He lost the ODI World Cup final after the match was in India’s hands.

"He was broken, fans were heartbroken. Despite winning 10 matches, India lost 1 match. I hope the situation isn’t the same in the T20 World Cup," he concluded.
