Ireland and Afghanistan go head to head in the third T20I of the five-match series in Belfast on August 12, Friday. The hosts won the game by 5 wickets and are leading the five-match series 2-0.  The games are more important for Afghanistan who will be heading into the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup from here on. 

Talking about Afghanistan they played an ODI series against Zimbabwe in June. Zimbabwe lost all three games and faced a humiliating whitewash in the series. Zimbabwe lost the 1st ODI by 60 runs, the 2nd ODI by 8 wickets, and the 3rd ODI by 4 wickets. Ahead of the series against India, Zimbabwe played an ODI series against Bangladesh.

Ireland after a losing streak against West Indies, India and South Africa finally managed to get back to winning ways in the first T20I. They lost the second T20I but still, there is a lot to play for the team. Skipper Andrew Balbirnie who scored a fifty in the first T20I was relieved to get back to winning ways.

“Lot more fun to score runs and get a win. We have been hurting not getting over the line against a few great teams, but today feels good. I thought we bowled pretty well and chased smartly” he said.
