Ireland will face New Zealand in the third and final ODI on July 15 in Dublin before the series moves into the T20I series. The hosts are trailing the series 2-0 and will look to win the final ODI to end the series on a high. Both teams then play a three-match T20I series starting from July 18.
Ireland skipper Andrew Balbirnie was a dejected man after he lost yet another ODI series. He blamed the loss on the inability of the batters to put up a huge score. Ireland headed into the series on the back of a T20I series loss against India.
“Tough toss to lose, it is always tricky when the ball is nipping around. If we could scrap out a bit more runs, we could have got a win. If someone could have batted through with George, we could have made it really competitive. We went through a couple of phases where we were dead on the field, it is another loss and we are all disappointed” he said after the second ODI loss. In this article, we take a look at Ireland’s predicted playing XI against New Zealand for the third ODI.
IRE vs NZ: Ireland’s Predicted Playing XI Against New Zealand, 3rd ODI
Paul Stirling
Stirling was dismissed for a duck in the second ODI off just four balls. He is the most experienced Irish batter and would like to play a substantial knock in the final ODI.

Andrew Balbirnie (C)
Harry Tector
Tector was in good form in the series against India. However, he has failed to carry that form to this series. He scored just four in the second ODI.
Andrew McBrine
McBrine promoted up the order and scored 29 in quick time. However, he failed to go big to help his team. He went for 46 runs off his 10 overs in the second innings.
Curtis Campher
Campher is one of the all-rounders in the current Ireland team. He scored 25 with the ball in the second ODI and picked one wicket. He needs to come up with a better all-round performance in the final ODI.
Lorcan Tucker (WK)
The Irish wicketkeeper-batsman scored 19 off as many off 40 deliveries. The middle-order batsmen including Tucker played very slow in the second ODI. They need to play at a faster pace in the final ODI if they are to win the game.
George Dockrell
Dockrell top-scored with a 74 in the second ODI. It was very much a lone hand from him to take Ireland to a respectable score. He did not bowl in the second ODI Dockrell needs to score runs again for Ireland’s sake in the final ODI.
Simi Singh
Another Irish all-rounder. Simi Singh scored 16 off 25 deliveries in the second ODI. He also took two wickets in the game. Singh needs to replicate his form in the third ODI for his side.
Mark Adair
Adair remained unbeaten on 25 with the bat in the second ODI and took the wickets of Guptill and Will Yong for ducks. Ireland needs another inspirational performance from him.
Craig Young
Young is the second seamer in this Irish playing Xi. He is a left-arm pacer and gets the ball to swing at pace. He can extract swing and can be a tough proposition for the Kiwi batters.
Joshua Little
Little concludes Ireland’s probable playing XI for the third ODI. He is the third seamer in the playing XI along with two spinners in McBrine and Dockrell with Simi Singh as the sixth bowling option.
