Ireland have booked their spot for the 2024 T20 World Cup, scheduled to be played in West Indies and the United States. The Irish team became the first team to secure qualification at the ongoing T20 World Cup European Regional Final at Edinburgh after overnight rain ended the chance of the game between Ireland and Germany to take place.
Prior to the washout, Ireland had registered victories over Italy, Denmark, Austria, and Jersey. Ireland will lock horns against hosts and table-toppers Scotland in their last clash of the competition. At present, both Ireland and Scotland are unbeaten in the competition.
After Ireland, Scotland Likely To Qualify For 2024 T20 World Cup
Two teams had the opportunity to book their place for the 2024 T20 World Cup through the ongoing qualifier in Scotland. While Ireland have already booked their place for the tournament, Scotland need one more point from their remaining two games to play the T20 World Cup next year. Scotland have a solid net run rate and are all but sure of qualifying for the T20 World Cup.
Before taking on Ireland on Friday (July 28), Scotland will be up against Denmark in a shortened match at the Grange on Thursday (July 27). A win or no result in either would be sufficient to secure the second qualification spot.
