Sri Lanka Beat India In Women's T20 Asia Cup 2024 Final Clash
Ireland Women have never defeated Sri Lanka Women in a competitive match. The two teams first played against each other in 2000, with Sri Lanka winning six times and one match having no result. The two women's teams last played against each other during the 2017 Women's ODI World Cup Qualifier.
Ireland defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets during a warm-up match for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2018. They were set to play each other in the 2021 ODI World Cup Qualifier. However, the bilateral series between Ireland and Sri Lanka was canceled due to travel restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sri Lanka recently won the 2024 Asia Cup by defeating India in the final match. The squad for the upcoming series against Ireland is almost the same as the one that won the T20 Asia Cup. Captain Chamari Athapaththu is expected to miss the T20I series to play in the Women's Hundred with the Oval Invincibles.
Fans in Ireland and the UK can watch the upcoming series live on the Cricket Ireland Live YouTube channel. The streaming details for other regions will be announced later.
