Irfan Pathan Delivers Verdict On Devdutt Padikkal's Trade To LSG

Former India National Cricket Team all-rounder Irfan Pathan has shared his verdict on the trade of the star batsman Devdutt Padikkal to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Padikkal, who is one of the most exciting talents in Indian cricket, was traded to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by Rajasthan Royals (RR) in exchange for the pacer Avesh Khan. The 23-year-old left-handed batsman has been in red-hot form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy and would be hoping to keep the same momentum going heading into next year’s Indian Premier League (IPL).

Recently, during an interaction on Star Sports, Irfan Pathan spoke about the Lucknow Super Giants and said that the scouts would have worked a lot to find domestic talents as they have let go of quite a few players.

“There will actually be a lot of work done by their scouts because they have taken out a lot of domestic players. So domestic matches become very important. So they must have identified players whom they want to get from domestic matches,” said Pathan.

LSG released Jaydev Unadkat, Daniel Sams, Manan Vohra, Swapnil Singh, Karan Sharma, Arpit Guleria, Suryansh Shedge, and Karun Nair ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.

Irfan Pathan further lauded the Lucknow Super Giants for roping in Devdutt Padikkal in a trade deal with Rajasthan Royals.

“Apart from that, it’s pretty sorted. I think Devdutt Padikkal’s move is fantastic. So what they need to do is to get good domestic cricketers as a backup, not the frontline playing XI players,” Pathan added.

Padikkal, who has scored 1521 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has scored five successive 50-plus scores in the VHT 2023. If he manages to continue this form, there is a possibility of him being given the top-order spot by the LSG franchise in IPL 2024.
