Former India captain Kapil Devi has called Jasprit Bumrah a far better bowler than him. The legendary cricketer's comments have come following the India pace spearhead's brilliant display in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.

The right-arm pacer has lived up to the expectations so far and has played a key role in India's march to the semifinals. In the first two games of the campaign, he was also adjudged the Player of the Match. In the first game against Ireland, his brilliant spell helped India bowl out the opposition for just 96. It was followed by another sensational spell against Pakistan as India managed to defend a modest total of 119 runs.

Overall, he has picked up 11 wickets so far in six games. In addition to taking wickets, he has also maintained a brilliant economy rate of just 4.08. With Jasprit Bumrah further enhancing his reputation as arguably the best fast-bowler in the world, Kapil Dev has called him 1000 times better than him.

"Bumrah is 1000 times better than me. These young boys are far better than us. We had more experience. They are better," Kapil told 'PTI Videos'.

"They are very good. Outstanding. They are fitter. They are much more hardworking. They are fantastic," he added.

Before the T20 World Cup, Jasprit Bumrah had enjoyed a stellar campaign in the IPL. In a season where the batsmen scored runs for fun and took even the best in the business for cleaners, Jasprit Bumrah was class apart. He finished the tournament as the third-highest wicket-taker. In 13 games, the Mumbai Indians star picked up 20 wickets with a remarkable economy rate of 6.48.

The right-arm pacer is yet to play in the final of the tournament and will be desperate to ensure that India book their place in the title-decider.

The highly-awaited match between India and England is scheduled to take place on Thursday (June 27). India are eyeing their third T20 World Cup final and first since 2014. In the last edition of the T20 World Cup, they had suffered a 10-wicket loss against England in the semifinal and will be desperate to avenge that loss this time.
