Young batting sensation of India, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, back in the news for fearless batting in Duleep Trophy 2026. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was instrumental in East Zone’s four-wicket win over Central Zone in the semi-final at Bengaluru.

Vaibhav made a big impact across both innings, scoring 92 runs from 81 balls in the first innings and 40 runs from 43 balls in the second innings. His important knocks helped East Zone reach the Duleep Trophy 2026 final, where they will now face South Zone in Chennai. East Zone captain Ishan Kishan praised his deputy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s intelligent approach to the game ahead of the Duleep Trophy 2026 final. “I think 15-year-old knows his game well and can handle tough situations,” Ishan said.

Vaibhav’s performance in the semi-final showed his confidence and maturity despite his young age. His ability to score important runs under pressure has left everyone impressed.

The East Zone captain also made it clear that Vaibhav has the support of the senior players around him. Whole team is ready to guide and help him whenever he needs it.

Ishan Kishan said at the pre-match press conference in Chennai on Saturday (September 5): “To be honest, Vaibhav is very smart. He knows what he is doing. He played a crucial role in the last game. If there is anything, we are always there to help him.”

After the Duleep Trophy final, both Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be seen in action for India in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.

The series will begin on September 13 in Delhi. It will give Vaibhav another major opportunity to learn and perform at the international level. However, Ishan admitted the challenges of playing different formats of cricket.

Moving between formats can be challenging because each format demands a different approach and mindset. However, Ishan is focused on continuing to play and adapt to whatever challenge comes next. India will have two days of practice before the Afghanistan series begins.

Ishan further said, “I just keep playing. Yes, playing different formats can be tough. We have two days of practice ahead of the Afghanistan game.” Amid this, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Test hopes take a backseat despite Duleep Trophy brilliance.

India’s T20I players have been asked to report to New Delhi by September 9 for the Afghanistan T20I series preparations. However, the Duleep Trophy match is scheduled to finish on September 10, giving a fresh headache to the selected players.
