Ishan Kishan slaps Mumbai Indians with a brutal record set by Jharkhand

Jharkhand set a massive world record during their match against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Ishan Kishan played an exceptional knock to help the Jharkhand team record the highest run rate in a T20 innings that lasted more than one over.
Jharkhand dismissed Arunachal Pradesh for just 93 runs on Friday, November 29. Notably, no Arunachal Pradesh batter scored more than 14 runs. Anukul Roy, who was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for the IPL 2025, picked up four wickets for 17 runs, while Ravi Yadav secured three wickets in the innings.
Ishan Kishan Surpasses Anmolpreet Singh's Record in SMAT
Ishan Kishan wanted to complete the run chase as quickly as possible. Kishan scored 77 off just 23 balls at a strike rate of 334.78. The left-handed batter smashed five boundaries and nine sixes during his knock. His opening partner, Utkarsh Singh, scored 13 runs off six balls, including two boundaries.
Ishan Kishan became the fastest by any player (facing more than 20 balls) in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history, surpassing Anmolpreet Singh's record (334.61). He is also the second-fastest by an Indian in T20s. Kishan is behind Suresh Raina, who scored at a strike rate of 348 in the 2014 IPL qualifier.
Jharkhand completed the run chase in just 4.3 overs to secure the victory. The Virat Singh-led team recorded their third victory in four matches in the ongoing tournament. They will take on Haryana in their next match of the event at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC in Mumbai on Sunday, December 1.
Jharkhand set a new record for the highest run rate in a T20I innings. They surpassed the previous record set by Romania (20.47) in 2021 against Serbia. Notably, it is also the fastest in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history. Saurashtra chased down a target of 70 runs in just 3.3 overs during the match in 2024.

Ishan Kishan to Play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025
Kishan’s remarkable knock came shortly after being signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Kishan was sold for Rs 11.25 crore after an intense bidding war. Mumbai Indians showed interest before backing out at Rs 3.40 crore, but other teams continued to engage in the bidding.
Mumbai decided not to use their Right to Match (RTM) card. He was released by Mumbai Indians after a tough 2024 season, where he scored 320 runs from 14 innings, with an average of 22.85 and a strike rate of 148.83. Kishan will join the SRH team as a wicketkeeper-batter, alongside Heinrich Klaasen.
