Another injury threat for the India National Cricket Team ahead of their three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, as Ishan Kishan left the nets with an injury. The keeper-batter left the nets with one hand rubbing the back of his waist.
It is feared that Ishan Kishan may have developed a sprain in the backside of his waist. The incident took place while he was up against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Navdeep Saini during a practice session under the floodlights.

Kishan tried to play the ball, but it somehow resulted in an injury. The seriousness of his injury is yet to be known in detail. It was a bounce from Navdeep Saini that left Ishan Kishan defenceless. The physio rushed to the spot soon after the incident. After some initial medical assistance by the physio, he left the pitch.
Kushan Sarkar, a PTI journalist, claimed in his 'X' post on the evening of September 11, "Ishan Kishan developed a sprain on the backside of his waist while trying to sway from a short ball bowled by net bowler Navdeep Saini."

Ishan Kishan is among the in-form Indian batters
The injury to Ishan will be a massive blow for the Indian cricket team if it proves serious for the keeper-batter, as he is one of the batters who joins the team backed by a fantastic domestic cricket stint.
Ishan joined the national team camp after winning the 2026 Duleep Trophy with East Zone as the captain. He was the hero of the match for his team, playing a 270-run knock in the first innings of the final and adding another 80 runs to his First-Class cricket tally in the second innings. During the 2025-26 season, the 28-year-old captain Jharkhand state cricket team to their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy glory.
The upcoming Test series between India and Afghanistan is scheduled to start on September 13, and Ishan hurt himself on the evening of September 11. It will be interesting to see whether he will be available to play the first match of the upcoming series.
BCCI is set to sack the physio, Kamlesh Jain
Ishan's injury came at a time when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian team management are already dealing with multiple injury setbacks. Players like Hardik Pandya and Harshit Rana are stealing trying to get out off their injury setbacks, while other star perfromaers, like Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy are expected to feature against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, returing from injuries.
In the meantime, it is also reported that the board is all set to sack their physio, Kamlesh Jain, from the team after the 2026 Asian Games.
