Indian batter Shreyas Iyer said the batters tend to think about scoring right from the first ball in T20 cricket. Iyer had a tremendous outing in the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka as he toyed with the lines and lengths of the Sri Lankan bowlers.
Iyer remained unbeaten in all three T20I matches against Sri Lanka as he accumulated 204 runs from three innings at a strike rate of 174.36.

It is a crime to play a dot ball in T20 cricket: Shreyas Iyer
India swept the T20I series with another 3-0 whitewash as Iyer made 73 from 45 balls in the third T20I match against Sri Lanka on Sunday. The Mumbai player believes that a batter commits a crime by playing a dot ball in the shortest format of international cricket.
“For every ball, you need to think about scoring. As a batsman, I feel if you play a dot ball (in T20 cricket), it’s a crime. It takes a toll on the batsman. When you said about that West Indies team, with such a line-up that everybody comes up and smashes from the first ball, you really need to set up a great total on the board,” Iyer told the Times of India.

“Yeah, it felt very good (his performance in Sri Lanka T20Is). The start, which I got, was really amazing. I told myself I am just going to play with full freedom because now we have such depth in our batting line-up that it gives us more freedom to go and express ourselves. Even if we are a few runs down, the intent has to be very positive,” he added.
