It Is One Of The Worst Things I Have Heard: Andrew Flintoff On 'Bazball'

In an effort to turn around their Test performance, England hired Brendon McCullum as their coach and named Ben Stokes as their new red-ball skipper, taking the place of Joe Root.
Since the two came to the fore, they have won four red-ball matches, including a record-breaking 378 chase against India in the much-delayed Edgbaston Test and a crushing 3-0 victory over world Test champions New Zealand.
Bazball, named after McCullum’s pet name “Baz,” is the English team’s new swashbuckling approach to the format.
Although the ultra-attacking style of “Bazball” has won over many former players and commentators, Andrew Flintoff is not a fan of England’s new style of cricket.

I Do Not Know Many Players From The Current Crop: Andrew Flintoff
“It’s one of the worst things I have ever heard. I’m not interested in that. They’re just playing an exciting brand of cricket that everybody loves watching,” Flintoff told iNews in an interview.
“Good lad. He was due a few. I don’t know Ben. I don’t’ know many of the current crop. I retired at 31, which I felt was too soon. I was hoping to get a few more years out of it. I couldn’t be around it because I felt I should still have been playing and it hurt,” said the former all-rounder about not playing for long enough.

“Marcus Trescothick and Steve Harmison led the way in cricket with mental health. It is so sad that people feel they can’t be themselves in sport. I remember when I spoke about depression and bulimia it was like a coming out.
“The reaction was amazing. Hopefully, it would be the same if people were to come out. Let’s not worry about labels and categories. Let’s just be nice to each other,” added the former England all-rounder when asked about Stokes’ new documentary.
