"It was his class"- Nitish Rana recalls a feisty fight between Rohit Sharma and Mitchell Johnson in Mumbai Indians

Kolkata Knight Riders vice-captain Nitish Rana has revealed the name of the bowler against whom he faced a lot of difficulties. The left-hander also mentioned that he found it difficult to face him but when Rohit Sharma batted against the same bowler, it all looked easy.

Rana was recently a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad which lifted the IPL 2024 title. Although he played just two games in the tournament due to injury but was part of the crucial final against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

'It's the class of Rohit Sharma's which made it easy' - Nitish Rana

During a podcast on the TRS YouTube channel, Nitish Rana revealed many secrets and interesting things about the cricketing world. He revealed one incident when he saw Indian captain Rohit Sharma bat against former Australia fast bowler Mitchell Johnson in the nets and found it easy to face the quick.

But when he faced Johnson, he wasn't even able to see the ball. Rana revealed that was due to the class of Rohit Sharma.

"I saw Rohit bhaiya batting against Mitchell Johnson in the nets and seeing this I felt how easy it is to bat against Johnson, even I can do. But when I got a chance to face Johnson after a week, I was not even able to see his balls, then I realized that it is not easy to face Johnson's bowling, but it was Rohit Sharma's batting class which made it easy", Nitish Rana said on TRS YouTube channel.

Rohit Sharma's records in international and IPL cricket

Rohit Sharma is regarded as one of the finest batters of this generation. He has the record for the highest individual ODI score to his name when he scored 264 off 173 balls against Sri Lanka at Eden, Gardens, Kolkata.

Rohit has played 59 Tests, 262 ODIs, and 156 T20Is so far. He averages over 45 in Test and ODI cricket and is one of the few batters in the world who has scored over 10000 runs in ODI cricket.

He is also leading the list of most number of sixes in international cricket. The opening batter is currently involved in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 where he is the Indian captain.

In terms of ICC trophies, Rohit Sharma was part of India's squads that won the inaugural 2007 ICC T20 World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

Rohit Sharma is also the joint-most successful captain in the IPL history. He has led Mumbai Indians to five titles between the years 2013 and 2020.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Johnson was one of the fastest bowlers in the world. The left-arm quick was lethal during his playing days. He was at his best when he helped Australia win the 2013 Ashes series 3-0 on his own.

Johnson won four ICC trophies with Australia: the 2007 ODI World Cup, 2015 ODI World Cup, 2006, Champions Trophy, and 2009 Champions Trophy.

Rohit Sharma and Mitchell Johnson also played together for Mumbai Indians for some years.
