It's A Result Of A Lot Of Hard Work For Each Of These Boys But Also Of Their Families: Rahul Dravid Addresses The Latest Debutant Duo Of Ishan Kishan And Suryakumar Yadav

18 July 2021 will go down as a day that the duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan will forever cherish and remember as it marks the start of their ODI journey.

After having made their T20I debut together against England earlier this year, the duo has now made their debut in the 50-over game in the first ODI of the three-match series against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

For Ishan Kishan, it is a matter of double celebration as the talented Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batter is celebrating his 23rd birthday today.

Kishan, by making his ODI debut on his birthday, has become just the second Indian to achieve a rare feat after Gurasharan Singh.

Singh made his ODI debut on his birthday against Australia during a Rothmans tri-series game way back in 1990.

As for Suryakumar Yadav, the year keeps getting better and better as the 30-year-old, after having endured several heartbreaks in the past few years, has finally made his international debut in both formats of white- all cricket- first against England in T20I and then against Sri Lanka in ODI cricket.

Ahead of the cap-presentation ceremony, head coach Rahul Dravid congratulated the duo and their families for the fruitful culmination of years of hard work and sacrifices.

Post his address, Dravid asked skipper Shikhar Dhawan to hand the ODI cap to Ishan Kishan before asking Bhuvneshwar Kumar to do the same to Suryakuamr Yadav.
