Former captain and West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara shared a special note exclusively dedicated to the Pakistan cricket legend Imran Khan. Amid the Pakistan cricket team's tour of England for a Test series, concerns were raised about Imran Khan's health who is currently behind bars.
Imran Khan is not only a cricketing legend across the world, but he also became a political figure in the nation as the former Prime Minister of Pakistan. The current Government of Pakistan keeps him in jail, accusing him of corruption. Away from political matters, Brian Lara requested the Pakistan government to provide Imran with basic medical assistance.
Brian Lara shares special note for Imran Khan
In his Instagram post, recalling memories from his days with the West Indies National Cricket Team, Brian Lara mentioned that there were only a handful of moments when he and Imran Khan crossed paths on the ground, but that did not affect the mutual respect they shared with each other. Brian Lara finds it difficult to imagine how someone who is supposed to be a role model for Pakistan is behind bars.
"Imran Khan and I only crossed paths on the field a handful of times, but the respect I have for him was instant and lasting. I am struggling to understand how someone who was once a beacon of hope, pride and inspiration for his country, at the height of his sporting career, could now find himself in a situation where he is not being cared for and treated with the compassion and dignity he deserves," Lara shared on his Instagram story.
"I stand with my fellow former captains in asking that he receive proper, independent medical care and the dignity every human being deserves. This isn’t politics. It’s basic humanity for a legend of our game."

Sons of Imran Khan made massive allegations against Pakistan government
During the recently played England vs Pakistan Test match at Lord's, a Sky Sports interview featuring two sons of Imran Khan created a huge controversy across the cricketing nations. The interview went on air during the Lunch on the match on Day 1.
It was reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was so unhappy with the interview that they reportedly threatened to withdraw the team from the match. However, Pakistan continued playing the match and remains in the series.
A group of former captains wrote a letter to the Pakistan government
Through the interview, Imran Khan's sons claimed that the Shehbaz Sharif-led government was not providing basic medical assistance to their father. The highest court of the nation directed the government to provide Imran with necessary medical treatments, but if the claims are to be believed, then the former Pakistan cricket team captain is mostly spending his time in a small cell, without minimum facilities.
In demand for Imran's proper medical care, a group of 21 former international captains, including legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, and Greg Chappell in August. Now, Brian Lara has individually placed his request with the government of Pakistan.
