The Chennai Super Kings are having a horrible time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The five-time champions are at the bottom of the points table, a sight that is tough to digest for many, especially after the kind of success they have had in the league.
Chennai Super Kings are in a spot of bother in the IPL 2025
Chennai Super Kings started their tournament with a win against Mumbai Indians in their backyard. However, after that, things didn't go their way at all. The franchise lost five consecutive games and came under massive pressure.
Also, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out, and MS Dhoni took charge again. CSK defeated Punjab Kings, and it was expected that they would get their campaign back on track, but were recently thrashed by the Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets at Wankhede Stadium.
Chennai Super Kings are now in a spot of bother in the IPL 2025. To qualify for the playoffs, they need to win all their remaining games. But with the kind of performances they have been putting in, it seems very unlikely that they will make it into the top four of the league.
It's bound to happen in a long - Kasi Viswanathan on CSK's performances
Kasi Viswanathan admitted that fans will be disappointed with the performance of CSK in the IPL. But said that with the team being successful, one bad year is bound to happen. The CEO of the team, however, was quick to point out that with players like Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni, they are confident of making a comeback. Speaking during the event, he said:
"All of you will be little bit disappointed with the performance of CSK this year, it's bound to happen in a long. We've had very good years earlier also. We know that yes, we are not playing good cricket as of now, but we hope that in the coming matches we should be able to do better.
"We've got a player of the caliber of Shivam Dube here who has been doing so well for us over the years and I'm sure with a skipper like Thala being at the helm, it's only a question of time before we come back."
The team is committed and I'm sure that we'll come up with better performance - Kasi Viswanathan
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan reminded fans of team campaign in 2010, when they lost 5 games and won the title. He added that the entire team is committed and they are confident of coming back. He added:
"Of course, we still remember the year 2010 when we lost five games in a row and then went on to win the Cup. That was the first year when we won the IPL title and I'm sure that the boys are committed.
"The team is committed and I'm sure that we'll come up with better performance in the future here, the future matches which are coming up because all of you will be a little."
