The IND vs NZ 2nd Test commenced on Thursday, October 24 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. During Day 1 of the match, many fans protested against the lack of basic facilities at the stadium.

MCA Stadium has only hosted 2 Tests in the past, and IND vs NZ 2nd Test is the third game at the stadium. New Zealand opted to bat first in the match and the Indian Team bowled them out in the 1st innings with a 7-wicket haul by Washington Sundar.

Fans in disgust after lack of drinking water at MCA stadium

Notably, the weather in Pune touched 31 degrees on Thursday and fans had to bear the heat inside the stadium. Also, a large section of MCA Stadium does not have shades to cover seats from sunlight.

As the stadium is situated quite far from the main city, many fans also had to walk to reach the stadium ahead of the match due to a lack of public transport in the area. Later, they were denied umbrellas inside the stadium, which they bought to save themselves from the scorching heat.

After a few hours into the match, fans could not find drinking water inside the stadium. As a result, they got frustrated and shouted slogans like "MCA hay hay." The volunteers tried to take control of the crowd that complained of basic facilities like drinking water.

Notably, BCCI has ordered all State Associations to provide drinking water free of cost during all international games at all stadiums.

Fans complain about terrible facilities during IND vs NZ 2nd Test

One fan from Nashik showed his frustration over the matter. “The facilities here are terrible. We’ve come from far away, they don’t allow umbrellas inside, there are no shades for fans, and now there’s no drinking water. Is this how you promote Test Cricket?”, he was quoted as saying to RevSportz.

Another fan from Pune, Prithvi Naik, felt it was torture for fans. “I challenge the authorities to sit in the stands for just five overs. When they feel thirsty, they’ll find no water. It’s torture,” he said.

Despite the event, many fans supported Team India's dominant show in the match and cheered for their fabulous bowling attack on Day 1 of the IND vs NZ 2nd Test.
