James Anderson to retire after India Tests? Pacer comes up with shocking update amidst the Test series
England’s veteran pacer James Anderson has discussed his retirement plans amidst the ongoing five-match Test series between India and England. James Anderson is currently playing in the third Test which is being played at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. He went wicketless on the first day but bowled pretty well maintaining his consistency in line and length. James Anderson wants his career to end on a high note.
James Anderson has taken 695 wickets in Test cricket and has the most wickets as a fast bowler. He is also closer to the 1000 wickets mark across formats. Anderson last played a limited-overs match for England in 2015 against Afghanistan and since then he has been devoted to Test cricket.
He has taken 982 wickets in his international career and now needs only 18 wickets to complete 1000 wickets across formats and he will be the first pacer to achieve this milestone.
James Anderson said that he wants to end his career on a nice note and doesn’t want to drag his career. He gave former England skipper Eoin Morgan’s example who just woke up last year and knew it was the right time to announce his retirement and Anderson is hoping for the same.
He made his Test debut in 2003 against Zimbabwe at the Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London. Anderson has played 185 Tests in his career span of 21 years and he made his international debut in 2002 in the ODI format.
“I would like to be able to go out on a nice note. I don’t want to drag it out and people are thinking: ‘Can you just do one.’ Morgs [Morgan] last year woke up and just knew it was time to call it a day. I am just hoping that is the case,” said Anderson.

James Anderson feels he is privileged to be in this position
“I feel privileged to have got in a position where I can make a decision because, as a bowler, it is usually taken out of your hands with injury or selection. It will be nice to go out on my own terms, but when that will be, you just have to wait and see,” Anderson added.
James Anderson has a terrific record against India in Test cricket. He has taken 144 wickets in Test cricket against India in 37 Test matches and has taken six five-wicket hauls against India.
Anderson is currently facing India in Rajkot and he may have gone wicketless on the first day but he was brilliant with his bowling in terms of consistency of his lengths.
India and England are facing each other in a five-match Test series and the series is currently levelled at 1-1. The hosts lost the first Test by 28 runs in Hyderabad but then they made a comeback in Vizag to win the second Test by a huge margin of 106 runs.
Both sides have a great chance to get a lead in this series by winning the third Test. The remaining two Tests will be played in Ranchi and Dharamsala respectively and India would hope to continue their unbeaten streak at home in Tests.
